BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPLICATION FORM

Thank you for your interest in serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Fair Housing Center for Rights & Research. Serving on the Board is a rewarding experience and an opportunity for personal and professional growth. Completing the form below will help you understand the skills and time/resource commitments of this leadership position.

This application is kept confidential and on file at the Center’s office. Applications are used by the Board Development and Governance Committee to identify and evaluate potential Board candidates. All new directors are elected by a majority vote of current Board members.

BOARD MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

As you consider your application, it may be helpful for you to understand the responsibilities of Board members. They include:

  1. Serving an initial three-year term on the Board. Directors are eligible to be re-elected to continuous three-year terms.
  2. Attending no fewer than three of the Board’s six scheduled meetings each year. The Board meets from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of January, March, May, July, September and November. Currently, meetings are held virtually via Zoom.
  3. Serving on at least one Board committee and attending those meetings as scheduled.
  4. Attending and participating in events sponsored by the Fair Housing Center where attendance is appropriate.
  5. Making an annual financial contribution to support the agency’s programs and activities. There is not a specific amount that is required.
  6. Signing a Conflict of Interest policy at the time of election to the Board and annually thereafter.
  7. Providing other service or support as requested by agency staff and Board leadership.
